After realising the my previous ideas wouldn't suit the breif I decided to come up with new ideas that would suit the brief, which meant that pretty much any type of violence would be unsuitable.
After taking some inspirations from "Super Meat Boy" and "Temple Run" I decided that these two genres of games would prove to be the most suitible due to thier nature of low to no violence. This would prove especially useful as it would be able to show off the quayside fairly easily. This mostly came from playing the games which sparked the idea that these genres (platformer and endless runner) would prove to be fairly suitible

My idea inspired from "Temple Run" would be the same endless runner style of gameplay but along the Quayside as the setting jumping obsticles such as railings and cars. With upgrades in the idea of renevating shops for boosts such as double jumping or increasing the difficulty by running faster. These are just early ideas which can be built upon later expanding it further. |
The idea that "Super Meat Boy" inspired was of a fast paced platformer based around the Quayside. Although I feel that this idea is much less suitable as the platformer would most likely involve heavy use of scaffolding which would look unnatural. Although I still feel that this idea is still an improvement over the ideas of a fighter or a brawler as these two ideas seem to fit the brief.
Out of these two ideas I decided to take the endless runner idea to move on with as it seems to suit the brief more as I could easily incorporate the idea into the endless amount of people running up and down the quayside everyday. Where as a generic platform may seem out of place as it would require many different objects scattered across the quayside for the player hence the reason I favored the other idea over it.
